Welcome to Tara's Guide to Orange County Virginia ....

It is our goal to bring you the most complete and up to date listings of businesses and resources available within our county. Information regarding the Orange County Virginia Government, School Systems, Recreational Activities, Emergency Services, Clubs, Churches, Organizations, Tourism and the Calendar of Events are featured within this site.

If you've ever visited Orange County, or if you are a current resident, you know the area is rich in beautiful scenery, from rolling landscapes to the incredible views of the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains. If you will be visiting, check out the Downtown areas where you can browse through Antique shops, Craft shops, Art Galleries, Historic Buildings and Museums.  Dine in one of the many restaurants.  The charm and hospitality provided is perfect for memorable wedding ceremonies, romantic getaways or business retreats. You can also enjoy fairs, street festivals and parades, all with hometown flair! Check the events calendar to find out what's going on. If you don't live in the area and would like to stay overnight, you may choose from Historic Inns, Bed and Breakfasts, Cottages or Hotels.

Rich with history... You can visit Montpelier, the home of James Madison, the fourth U.S. President and Father of the Constitution. Explore the plantation home, stroll through the gardens, or hike the trails.  A visit to the James Madison Museum, the Barboursville Ruins, or the Civil War Museum at the Gordonsville Exchange Hotel will be an experience to remember. Travel the "Constitution Route" Virginia State Route 20 and visit presidential homes, Civil War Battlefields, Wineries, and many other Historic Sites. Four United States Presidents; Jefferson, Madison, Monroe and Taylor were either born or built their private estates along this historic ninety mile route.

We are located 85 miles south of Washington, D.C. and 25 miles north of Charlottesville. Interstates 95, 64, 66 and 81 are all within 40 miles of the Town of Orange. Perfect for a day, weekend or lifetime adventure!
