Landfill and Waste Disposal


The Orange County landfill is located at 11530 Porter Road, on the right, just past the Sheriff's Department. The landfill is open to Orange County citizens from 8 am. to 4 pm, Monday through Friday and 8 am to 3 pm on Saturday.

There are three staffed trash compaction and recycling stations within Orange County. These facilities are currently located at Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove and Barboursville, hours are 8 am to 6 pm, 7 days per week. Additional recycling facilities are located at the landfill and in the town of Orange behind Porterfield Park. The landfill collects batteries, metals, appliances, freon, motor oil and antifreeze for recycling.

Throughout the county there are green box sites for household refuse only. These boxes are located at Route 655 near Montpelier, Route 638 near the Moose Lodge, Route 669 in Lahore, and about 200 feet from the intersection of Routes 20 and 522 in Unionville.
