Research Station
The Northern
Piedmont Agricultural Research Station and Extension Center is located
on Route 15 outside of Orange. The research station records and
monitors the county's weather, along with conducting soil and agricultural
experiments.

The United States
Department of Agriculture offers several offices to help farmers
and their families. Some of the services offered are emergency programs,
crop insurance, farm loans, and cost share conservation programs.
The Natural Resources Conservation Service provides landowners in
Orange with resource management assistance. They can provide design
and cost share assistance for cropland, forestry, pastureland and
wildlife protection practices.
The
Rural Development office's main focus is to help people to purchase
modest single family homes under the direct - and guarantee - mortgage
programs.
The USDA offices are located in the old silk mill complex on Madison
Road, in the town of Orange.
